HTC Vive: 15,000 Headsets Sold in 10 Minutes
HTC is making some money. Well, not just some money. A lot of money. HTC sold 15,000 $800 Vive headsets within their first 10 minutes of being available for pre-order.
Considering the technology isn’t really proven yet in the market and it requires people to have a nice PC, these numbers are impressive.
HTC Vive enables players to wear the headset over their eyes and ears to feel like they’re inside of the game or experience.
The headsets have a slew of sensors as well to track one’s movement which in turn helps create the feeling for the user that they’re actually in the place they’re looking at.
Oculus VR began selling a lower cost head mounted display, priced at about $600.
