Innovative Company Uses VR to Let Potential Employees Experience Their Office Thousands of Miles Away
MEC is temporarily moving its New York office to SXSW Interactive festival in Austin, Texas. They’re giving potential employees the opportunity to see what it’s like to work there.
What they’re doing is showing 3 VR films at its SXSW booth. MEC’s Global Chief Talent Officer, Marie-Claire Barker, said, “I don’t know if you’ve been to a recruiting fair lately, but they can be a little dry in terms of their approach, and we’d rather have not been there, than been there and been dry. What we want dot do is look at things in our industry as it relates to technology. Virtual reality is being talked bout everywhere and is being used for various reasons, so I thought this would be a really good opportunity to use the virtual reality world and the current space.”
The company bought a 360-degree camera and recorded the films in house enabling candidates to really get a unique feel (without being in person) for how the office environment is.
Barker said, “We see from our lens what the culture is like, but what we want to do is let them experience themselves in the culture of MEC.”
