Tag You’re it! Amazon Prepares for Virtual Reality Hype
Amazon is dunking its toes into virtual reality as the organization grows its video group.
Another Amazon job posting looks for “a talented Senior Programming Advancement Chief to lead our Virtual Reality group,” whose undertaking is to assemble VR encounters as a major aspect of Amazon Video.
“The future will not be limited to passive 2D experiences,” the job posting says. “The Virtual Reality team will explore and create the platform and interface for immersive storytelling. This will include an ingestion and playback platform for Virtual Reality experiences.”
Amazon isn’t the only one planning to convey its gushing video services to virtual reality. Netflix offers a virtual survey space for Samsung’s Apparatus VR headset, and Hulu is trying different things with its own particular VR application, due out this spring. In the interim, YouTube offers a choice of 360-degree recordings, and is supposedly investigating live event streaming in VR.
Amazon’s job posting implies that the organization needs to accomplish more than toss nearly 2D recordings into a 3D space, however there are a great deal of shapes that Amazon’s endeavors could take. Keeping in mind the organization says its game plan mainly revolves around software, we wouldn’t be shocked if this was an antecedent to Amazon VR equipment.
Why this matters: In spite of the fact that one job posting does not merit perusing into too profoundly, it shows that Amazon is keen on investigating virtual reality. Virtual reality is still in its infancy and the more organizations that attempt to make sense of it and develop products, the more awesome options we will have.
