World’s First Virtual Reality City
Timefire VR, is a tech company that’s working on a very ambitious VR project. Very ambitious may be an understatement. They’re working on creating a virtual city that can be explored by users and the users will help the city to grow.
The company is based in Phoenix, Arizona and while they have developed several games, this may be their biggest feat yet. This experience, called Hypatia, is being modeled after an old European city and the goal is to enable people to unite in virtual reality.
The company’s website says, “We are building Hypatia as a safe place to explore, learn, be entertained, meet with friends and family, and find delight along the way. There are no guns, no zombies, and no war. This is a place for the discovery of mind, imagination, and self.”
The experience has over 70 miles of streets that users can explore and the users are able to engage in a multitude of activities. Those actives include everything from rowing a boat to performing in a band to creating art and much more.
People who are visiting the town are able to earn money to buy things in the virtual world by developing something inside the game, for example – leading a band.
This VR city (Hypatia) will be granting access to early alpha users in the summer of 2016.
